Electric estimates assume an FBT-exempt eligible EV under the luxury car tax threshold, with the full package deducted pre-tax. Petrol, diesel and hybrid estimates apply the FBT statutory method (20% of the vehicle cost) as a post-tax employee contribution to cancel FBT, so only the pre-tax portion saves tax. Uses 2025–26 resident tax rates plus 2% Medicare levy. Running cost amounts are general estimates only and vary by state, insurer, driving distance, fuel and electricity plan.
